Synchronised and correct time for all premises and time related equipment in a facility, requires time signals from a reliable central time base. Westerstrand WDP-Y8 is qualified time base which distributes time messages – minute impulses or time code (TC) – over a common network. This time base can also send serial time code (RS232) to computers and industrial boards. WDP-Y8 is a master clock with high precision and it has up to 64 programmable outputs for relay control over power consumers e.g. lighting and manufacturing processes. The relays can be programmed with a PC. WDP-Y8 can be equipped with a circuit board for connection to LAN/WAN and work as a time server in the network.

Existing cabling may often be used for distribution of time messages from WDP-Y8 which means lower costs for the installation.

Many industries – particularly in food and chemical industries – have production processes that requires protection classified clocks. Classification requirements may refer to safety, hygienic, etc. Such demands obviously have impact on the design and material of clocks. Horizon is an example of an IP 65 protection classified clock, made in stainless steel for the food and chemical industries.
